If you couldn't tell from the Lego story a few days ago, my little D.J. is a very sensitive boy. He has always been so tender hearted. When D.J. got home from school today he ran straight into my arms and started to sob. It took a few minutes to calm him down enough to hear what was wrong. He told me about a little boy at school who worked so hard to earn Cougar Bucks (a reward at school) and had "bought" a ball with his money. He came outside at recess and asked the boys if he could play wall ball with them and if they would use his new ball. The older boys told him "no, your ball is too small." D.J. said he started to cry so he went and told him he would play with him but the bell rang and they had to go inside. D.J. was so devastated for the little boy. He held it in all day and as soon as he got home he just broke down. He just kept saying, "Mom, I just feel so bad for him. He worked so hard to earn those cougar bucks so he could buy that ball. Then everyone made him cry and it made me so sad." He then cried for 30 minutes. We finally had to say a pray to ask Heavenly Father to help him calm down. I didn't know what else to do. It worked, thank goodness for answered prayers! Then he was going to bed and it started all over again. He cried even harder. We said another prayer and talked about what he could do tomorrow at school to make that little boy happy. He then fell asleep crying in my arms. I wanted to hold him forever. I hate to see him sad but I love seeing him so compassionate. He is such a sweetheart. I had Trevor grab the camera and take a picture so I can tell him about this night when he grows up. And yes, I am as tired as I look in the picture. :)

What a sweetheart! I can only hope my kids will be that kind.
OK he is the sweetest kid ever! I swear that's how Cayson would be!
Thanks again for the pictures yesterday! They turned out GREAT...there are tons to choose from. I am bringing something to you today! : )
I'm totally crying right now. What a sweet mommy moment:) I'm sure you feel so proud. I just want to hug him. He looks like a big strong kid that's a peace maker who will end up taking care of the little underdog kids. So precious!
That is a really touching story. He is a sweetie! Kids can be so mean...it's good to know there are some that are kind and good.
Sarah--Be sure to tell D. J. how good and right it is that he loves others so much. The world is going to try to tell him that the other guy is the opponent and that there can only be ONE winner. We know that EACH of us who earn it can win. I love you!
That is so sweet! I just can't believe that a little boy could be so intuned to people's feelings! That's awesome!
It is amazing the so many life lessons can be learned from wall ball. Here is a great time for D.J.'s sensitivity to come into play. I hope he got everything worked out today. It makes me want to go to school and play with the poor kid myself. Thanks for sharing.
That is such a cute story. He is so nice and kind and he'll probably always be that way. What a sweet heart.
I love that he is so compassionate. I hope my kids grow up to be like him and that I too, will have a post like this one day. Good job raising such a good boys...and a girl. :)
