For Family night this week we went to the Utah County Food Bank for a tour and service project. It was really fun. The boys loved seeing where all the snack sacks we have been making are going. To start a volunteer talked to us about poverty and taught us things we can do to help those in need. Then we made signs that will be hung up around the county for a coat drive. We then all got a cool bracelet that says 'Stop Poverty.' After that we took a tour and saw how the food is sorted. Then there was another service project, decorating stockings for local childern. It was a wonderful night and the kids learned a lot. They are very excited to go back at the first of December to deliver the snack sacks.
Time for picture overload...

That's such a great idea. It looks like the whole 'Ivins' family went from the pictures, it's so great that you are all together so often. : )
I didn't even know you could take a tour...look at you changing the world one snack sack at a time! : )
This is so awesome Sarah! We filled up 100 bags tonight, Cassie probably already told you about them. It was so fun and it made us feel so good to know we're helping out. Your family is the coolest!
That was so fun. It was funny to hear what the kids thought it would look like. D.J. thought all the food would be in one big box. Aspen thought they would be in smaller boxes in little garages. Every family should go for a tour if they have the chance. I want to go and sort now. You can go any day 9-4:30 (I think). Thanks to everyone who has donated of helped Sarah in any way with this. She is really an amazing person.
Wow! You have such a great family to go do all that! And it's great what you are teaching your children. Way to go!
What a great cause to be a part of. I'm sure this is something your kids will always be thankful they took an interest in. Way to go!
