The past few weeks I have been trying to concentrate more on 'Enjoying Life, not just Enduring Life'. As I thought about this I decided that there are some things that I need to just let go... things that aren't important. I started trying to implement this in our day to day life more. I'm trying to let the boys pick out their own clothes, let them sing as loud as they want in the car, and letting them teach us during Family Home Evening more often, just to name a few. I know this sounds easy but for me, it's not. I like to be in control of things, I like to make the decisions. :) A few days ago Luke asked me for a dog, for about the 100th time. I quickly told him no, that will NEVER change, but secretly decided I would let him go to the pet store and pick out a fish. I know what your thinking, a fish? Does that even qualify as a pet? In our house it does, and he was so excited. He kept saying, "Mom, you said I couldn't have a pet but you changed your mind! Thank you Thank you Thank you!" So, meet our families first pet.....Harry Potter (of course)
I should have known that D.J. would want a fish also. We have two of everything else in this house so why not two fish? So it was back to the pet store for us last night. Meet our families second pet...Fish Skywalker

Now Libby wants a pet. She sat in front of the dog cage and laughed and laughed. But that's one thing that will never change. :) We are not a 'dog family.' Be sure to check back soon. I'm giving the fish about a 10 day life expectancy. Then we will have the talk about death with the boys and the fish experience will be over. Good Times!

Good for you! Fish are great first pets. How do you turn your blog into a book? I would love to do that.
you're such an awesome mom. It's true they grow to fast. great reminder to enjoy the journey.
You are seriously such a great person! I have loved getting to know you better. Idaho has totally helped me let go. It is so chill out here and not so high maintnence. Us girls worry about way to many things! The fish thing is hilarious! I bet 14 days tops! You are so funny!
Yeah..I see a dog in your future! : ) It really is fun and it really is not bad at all! SERIOUSLY!
Anyway, good luck with the fish...you will like them until it's time to clean out the bowls...yuck! What am I saying? I have like 10 fish. ; }
You are such a great mom!!
See ya tomorrow!
You are such a great mom! They are lucky to have you. I love the fish names, that's awesome! :) Libby sure looks cute in front of those sweet, cute puppies. :)
Fish are great...I don't know if you remember, but we had them in A.F. and frogs too. Loved the frogs! Get some rubber gloves--cleaning will be a breeze! Hahaha
Time goes fast--keep being a great mom!
Well you are a nicer mom than me! I can't even do the fish thing. My poor kids are going to be pet deprived as long as they live with me! You crack me up! Way to be the nice mom and make the rest of us feel bad!!
What a good mom. Fish really are a big deal! You still have to teach them how to take care of them. I am going to be up north next Thursday night to watch Twilight and I think we will be up for a couple days. It would be awesome to get together if you are going to be around :)
So cute! What a good idea to put it into a book... I think that's a reason I blog, to remind of things that have happened in the past, so boy, it sure would be awful if blogger were to suddenly disappear!

My girls got Beta fish a few years ago and boy do they live and live! Even after they have been retrieved from the drain. Yes, Jake had to get out the tools and take the sink pipe apart to fetch the beloved fish. YUCK! They sure have a will to live. Dang things! But just enjoy it. It sure does make for happy kids. Way to go SARAH! (Only...how can you deprive sweet little Libby of a puppy? -- hee, hee)
